We were hired by a paralegal/legal assistant who worked for a Chicago-based immigration attorney. The immigration attorney sued our client for embezzlement. After years of litigation (including a trip to the appellate court where we prevailed) the immigration attorney agreed to dismiss his case against our client with prejudice and our client did not pay money as part of this settlement. Likewise, the attorney ended up getting indicted for alleged immigration fraud by the Department of Justice.
