Nico Lira Lisle
Nico is a law clerk and new addition to Fish. He brings with him over three years of experience in local government human resources; externship experience at the employer-side firm Clark Baird Smith LLP; and licensed law clerk experience at the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation where he regularly settled cases in the Health-Related Prosecutions Unit on the Department’s behalf.
Nico is Mexican-American and a proud, active member of the Latinx community. Nico is a student member of the Hispanic Lawyers Association of Illinois and has received the Goldberg Kohn Award through the Hispanic Lawyers Scholarship Fund. Nico is also on the Chicago-Kent Hispanic-Latinx Law Student Association Executive Board and is a member of the NIU Latino Alumni Council. Additionally, for several years, Nico has been a member of Next Generation of Local Government Committee of the Illinois Association of Municipal Management Assistants, where his interests have been in diversifying the local government profession and “Next Gen” university outreach – Nico has been a guest speaker at DePaul University, the Illinois Institute of Technology, and the American Society for Public Administration.
Nico graduated summa cum laude with his bachelor’s degree from Northern Illinois University where he double majored in Public Administration and Nonprofit Studies. Nico is now in his final semester of law school at Chicago-Kent College of Law, where his area of focus is in labor and employment law. Nico is External Vice President of Labor Employment Law Society, Student Editor of the Illinois Public Employee Relations Report, and enrolled in the Chicago-Kent Labor and Employment Law Certificate Program.
Nico enjoys volunteering. He is the current President of the Chicago-Kent Student Humanitarian Network; has volunteered three times down in New Orleans, with the Rebuild Center, Orleans Public Defenders, and Southeast Louisiana Legal Services. Nico is also an alumni ambassador for the NIU Center for Nonprofit & NGO Studies. He is a dog lover and fosters through Rover Rescue.
