$1.4 Million Class Action Settlement With Nando’s Restaurant Group

June 22, 2020:   Judge Ellis of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois (Chicago) entered preliminary approval today of a $1,427,000 settlement with Nando’s Restaurant Group.    The case asserted claims under the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA).

The estimated number of class members is 1,427 and, therefore, the gross recovery per person is $1,000.  Any court awarded fees, costs, and incentive fees will be deducted from that amount.

Class members can check back here for updates on the settlement and the status.   Class members do not have to do anything to received a check; there is no claims process.  They will automatically have a check mailed to them if the settlement receives final approval.

We are very happy with this settlement.   It comes at a time when many restaurant workers are out of work due to COVID-19 and, therefore, can use the money.

The preliminary approval order is available here:  Preliminary Approval Order

The settlement agreement is available here:  Settlement Agreement
